'The blue whale is the largest animal ever to inhabit this planet. Its songs are not easily heard, and so this audio recording had to be raised several octaves to be brought into the range of human hearing. Blue whales were hunted almost to extinction in the 1920s and are still severely endangered. This makes these recordings priceless.'
