Questionnaires

  • At the end of the program, students, teachers and participating Odyssey crew members will be given a questionnaire to fill out, which will be evaluated by Cynde

For all participants

  • What was the most exciting part of this program?
  • What was the best part of the program?
  • What was the weakest part of the program?
  • What suggestions do you have for future use of resources?
    • Logs
    • Charts and maps
    • NOAA and NASA sites

For Teachers

  • How could a DVD be used in the classroom?
  • Is the DVD the best way to go as far as distributing material for your use?
  • How can the Internet be used in the classroom?

For Crew members

  • How much time did you spend answering questions?
  • Do you feel it was a good use of time?
  • If this is taken to a larger scale, how could we accommodate, or is it even possible?
  • What other approaches could we take to keep the idea, but have better use of boat time?

For Students

  • What was your reaction to getting to talk with Odyssey crewmembers?
  • How has your understanding of sperm whale increased because of your involvement in this program?
  • In what way did the worksheets help?
  • Tell me about reading the logs? Did you understand them? Were they exciting? Were they boring?
  • What was your favorite log and why?
  • What was your favorite topic covered?
  • Were the in-class activities beneficial to your understanding of whales? In what way?
  • How did working in teams help you or hinder your exploration experience?
  • If you had to design an experiment to study elephants, what are three steps you would take?
  • Tell us how you felt about participating in a real-life, ongoing scientific research expedition.
